Born and raised in
Columbia, South Carolina, Miriam Elizabeth Kinloch has been singing since the
tender age of 3. Raised in a wholesome, God-fearing household, Miriam has been
writing original compositions since she was 14; her parents inspired her to
write her first song, “Through Christ I Can,” followed by encouragement and
support from the rest of her loving family. Since then, the 19 year old has
authored over 30 scripture-based songs and poems. The verse by which she stands
is 2 Timothy 3:16-17:
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting
and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped
for every good work.”
Miriam unashamedly credits this beautiful gift to none other than God Himself.
She has gained more knowledge and experience of ministering through song as a
praise and worship leader, choir member, and ensemble member in her church, and
has performed at various events in her hometown. Throughout the latter of her
teenage years, Miriam has tremendously developed spiritually and vocally as a
result of direct and indirect influences in her life over these past four years.
For example, she has twice read and meditated on Dr. Myles Munroe’s book, The
Purpose and Power of Praise and Worship. Among her favorite artists is Joanne
Rosario. According to Miriam, “Joanne Rosario’s ministry has contributed to
[her] spiritual and vocal well-being.” Additionally, she has been mentored and
taught by ministers within her church.
As of right now, the music industry is dominated by a world full of secular
artists. In order to reach both the saved and unsaved, Miriam is well aware that
it takes humble, dedicated vessels for God to use. Along with several goals, her
ultimate desire is bless the world, despite anyone’s race, age, gender, or
background, through the combination of her gifts of singing and writing. Many of
the same, basic life lessons she has learned are integrated into her songs and
poems. This also explains why she is solely devoted to singing and writing God’s
praise and worship and none of the pop culture. Though she did not begin
ministering to those outside of her church until recently, Miriam is grateful
for the years that she has been privileged to submit and absorb how to serve and
sing unto God. As a result, she has developed a boldness that shines bright,
thus explaining why Philippians 2:13 & 15 is one of the many verses that has
impacted her outlook on living for Christ:
“…for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good
purpose…so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault
in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the
universe…”
Such a verse also contributes to her stage name P.E.A.R.L.™ . The P.E.A.R.L.™
Revelation was birthed in June 2005. The Word is the Word, and though P.E.A.R.L.™
can be a blessing to both males and females, it is based on several scriptures,
including Ephesians 5:1-20, but serves as a symbol and reminder of who females,
of all ages, are in Christ and how godly ladies should conduct themselves.
P.E.A.R.L.™ definitely doesn't consider herself to be God's only P.E.A.R.L.™.
Unfortunately, some ladies just don't realize how valuable they really are to
God.
In spite of her heavy academic load, Miriam has maintained a cumulative GPA of
at least 3.7 in her second year at the University of South Carolina as a
Psychology major. Furthermore, she has not stopped writing and looks forward to
the future plans God has for her. All such goals and accomplishments are unto
the glory of God.
